1800

Dear Journal,

My mother has given me her old journal, she said that I will use it more than she will. She only used it once, the day I was born, so this is really special to me. I was kidnapped yesterday by the Hidasta Indians. I am really surprised that they even let me keep this journal. They are keeping me as a slave here, and I am really scared of what they are going to do with me when they don't need me anymore. Well we are moving camps right now so I will see what they are going to do with me. I really want to be back at home.

1800's

Dear Journal,

I have lost track of the date, and I am getting really worried. I still haven't figured out what they are doing with me yet. So far all they have done to me is make me weave baskets. When I was working I heard that I was won by the chief, he gambled a lot I guess. This doesn't seem right that they would want a 16 year old girl for a slave.

1800's

Dear Journal,

I still don't know the date. Today I had to get married to Toussaint Charbonneau, But he is already married to another woman. Also two men came and talked to the chief. I heard my name mentioned. I wonder what they want with me. I hope the chief is not going to gamble me and sell me to them.

1800's

Dear Journal,

I finally found out what the two men want with me. They want me to go with them on an expedition around the world. They need my good tracking skills. It is funny because I just found out I am pregnant. This will be fun.

1800's

Dear Journal,

I found out the two men are William Clark and Meriwether Louis. We made it to Three Forks, Montana and I had my baby. It was a boy. I have not picked a name yet but I am hoping to soon. Will and Meriwether have been very helpful and kind to me. I am not feeling so good right now but I am still holding up strong and ready to go! We are leaving now so I have to go.

1800's

Dear Journal,

I have not been feeling to good. I have been suffering of something and its getting harder and harder for me to keep up with the boys. My son is very cold and hungry. We have not eaten in 2 days. I do not no where we are and I am starting to stiffen. I have to stop writing for now because my hand hurts.

1800's

Dear Journal,

We found an inn and we are staying here. I am curled up in my bed and so cold. This will probably be my last journal entry. I will like to see my mom in heaven. My boy will probably take my journal. I would like to thank Meriwether and Will for taking me on this trip. I will hopefully die today than suffer another. Goodbye everyone!

1800's

Dear Journal,

This is the first time I am using my moms journal. She just died a minute ago. I am so sad right now I have not stopped crying. She has done so much for me, Meriwether, and Will. Meriwether and Will are taking me back to my original tribe to be an adopted child to go to a good family. I hope my new family will be like my mom.
